The Liontrust Cashflow Solution team

The Cashflow Solution Process

The process is based on the belief the most important determinant of shareholder returns is company cash flows. The fund managers invest in companies that generate strong cash returns from their capital, appear cheap on those cash flows and are run by managers committed to an intelligent use of capital. There is historical evidence that combining the Cashflow Solution process with a yield discipline is capable of generating strong returns. Companies generating significant cash flows are in a good position to pay generous and rising dividends to shareholders.

UK domiciled

European Growth Fund

The Fund invests in a concentrated and equally weighted portfolio of companies from developed continental Europe using the Cashflow Solution process.

[As at July 2016] the Liontrust European Growth fund is in third place out of 99 funds in the Europe ex-UK sector over one year, while over three years it is also top quartile. It is one of the few European funds to be showing a healthy return in the last 12 months, earning investors 19% when the average fund has managed only 4%.

Patrick Collinson, writing in Fund Strategy, July 2016

Global Income Fund

The Fund seeks to provide investors with a high level of income with capital values keeping pace with inflation over a medium to long-term investment horizon through using the Cashflow Solution process.

The most consistent dividend grower [among global income funds] was Liontrust Global Income, with eight out of ten years of payout increases.

Mark Atherton in The Times, October 2016

Non-UK domiciled

GF European Smaller Companies Fund

The Fund has been managed since launch on 1 February 2017 by James Inglis-Jones and Samantha Gleave, who have been running a composite of Institutional European Small Cap mandates for a combined total of more than seven years. The Fund invests in companies listed in Europe (including the UK), with the majority having a market capitalisation of less than €5 billion at inception and has an equally weighted portfolio.

We focus purely on bottom-up financial analysis, relying on our own research and thus removing any emotional bias towards portfolio holdings.

GF European Strategic Equity Fund

The Fund aims to achieve a positive absolute return over the long term for investors through a portfolio of long, synthetic long and synthetic short investments primarily in European equities and equity related derivatives.

By using the Cashflow Solution investment process, a concentrated long book and a diversified short book, our approach offers the potential for better returns than the market in the long term while taking much less risk.

Disclaimer:
• Past performance is not a guide to future performance. • Do remember that the value of an investment and the income from it can fall as well as rise and you may not get back the amount originally invested. Investment in Funds managed by the Cashflow Solution Team involves foreign currencies and may be subject to fluctuations in value due to movements in exchange rates. • Some of the Funds managed by the Cashflow Solution Team invest in smaller companies. These stocks may be less liquid and the price swings greater than those in, for example, larger companies. • The European Growth Fund holds a concentrated portfolio which could mean that it will be volatile when compared to its benchmark. • The Global Income Fund's expenses are charged to capital. This has the effect of increasing dividends while constraining capital appreciation.
